Colum McCann, born in Dublin in 1965, now lives in New York. He is the author of numerous novels and short stories. His fiction, often marked by the brutality of exile and exclusion, is characterised by clear and precise writing which enables him to paint a topography of violence and to brilliantly and accurately bring out the contours of marginality (whether it be experienced in Ireland or America).
