The students

In partnership with Université Lumière Lyon 2, the faculties of Arts and Languages, the Ecole Normale Supérieure and

Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 (Benoît Auclerc, Fabienne Boissiéras, Jérôme Thelot).

We will be giving students the chance to take part in the International Forum and to share their critical impression of the

guest authors and their work with the public.

> 5 students will host the meetings that will follow the readings in bookshops

> 12 students will host the meetings held in public libraries around town

> 27 students will ask questions during the round tables

> 15 students will write literary criticism which will be published on the Villa Gillet’s website

For the students at Lyon 2 University, this participation in the Forum will form part of their Masters course.

Sixth-formers

In partnership with the rectorat de l’Académie de Lyon and the free daily newspaper, LyonPlus, we will be collecting the points of view of young readers on contemporary literature. 

1500 pupils (50 classes, 29 sixth form colleges) will be studying the work of the guest authors at the Forum. Their works of literary criticism will be published in LyonPlus throughout the month of May.

Primary Schools

Because literature is also aimed at the very youngest readers, pupils from Lyon primary schools will be participating in the Forum and

meeting the guest authors following a reading and writing project.

> 2 classes of 9 to 8-year-old pupils from Angélina Courcelles (Vaulxen-Velin) and Ernest Renand (Villeurbanne) primary schools are reading Marie NDiaye.

They will meet the author on Tuesday 26 May.

> 4 classes of 6 to 8-year olds and ten to eleven-year olds from the École Aveyron, École Jean Racine and the École Alphonse Daudet ) are reading Le grand Livre d’Olga by Geneviève Brisac.

The young readers will meet the author on 28th and 29th May and they will all attend a reading by the author on Thursday 28 May.

Les ateliers de création littéraire

> In partnership with Université Lumière Lyon 2 and the Ecole Normale Supérieure, two creating writing workshops will be organised.

- one in French at Lyon 2 University hosted by Olivia Rosenthal

- the other at the Ecole Normale Superieure with Neil Bissoondath


> In partnership with the rectorat de l’Académie de Lyon and Muze

10 sixth-form students from Lyon will participate in a writing workshop with Mathias Énard. The short stories produced will be read by a jury of ten other sixth-formers (presided by Colette Fellous).


The work of the winner will be published in the magazine Muze in May.

Construire l'Europe : France - Allemagne

Exchange project

A class of pupils from the sixth-form college Saint-Exupéry in Lyon and German pupils from the Fontane-Gymnasium school in Rangsdorf and from the Gymnasium Bertolt Brecht school in Bad Freienwalde are reading How the Solider Repairs the Gramophone by Sasa Stanisic. The young Germans will be in France from 27 to 31 May to meet the author and to take part in the Forum.
